We are a society set up to conserve the historic nature of the village, represent the interests of its members and encourage a sense of community.
We represent two areas within St Albans. St Michael's Village, which is reasonably well defined as the area near the River Ver and St Michael's Church, and also Kingsbury which is less well defined and lies on higher ground between Verulam Road, Hill Street and the lower end of Fishpool Street.
We distribute a printed newsletter in colour three times a year. Our recent newsletters are available via this website and are distributed to around 600 households on our patch.
We maintain this website and hold an AGM with a guest speaker.
We have one visit of local interest per year and various other ad-hoc activities.
We have a committee to organise these activities and we collect a membership fee from around a quarter of the area's households as well as other well wishers.
We have been active in representing resident's interests in planning issues and other issues of local concern, such as plans to clean up the river and lake in Verulamium Park.
We also maintain the former Ford area on the southern bank of the river in St Michael's Village.
We welcome new members to help keep up the good work that we do around the village and the local area.
